Omega Church is built using the latest technologies available from Microsoft.  Developed in C# in the Microsoft .NET framework, this ensures that Omega not only uses the best technology, but also safeguards future releases.  Microsoft .NET has become and will remain the standard bearer for software development, placing Omega at the forefront of church software.

Omega Church's back end database varies depending on the version you use.  The single and multi user editions use Microsoft's SQL Compact.  This secure technology is embedded into the program, meaning the program is fast to run and does not rely on 3rd party software installations.

Omega Church's Network Edition uses SQL Server as its back end, the version most commonly used is 2005 Server Express, which is free of charge to install and use.  SQL Server is the best in terms of security, performance and reliability.

Protection from hackers

The database software (see technical information, left) employed allows for much greater security of personal information than most of our competitors. Data is encrypted and cannot be accessed without a password embedded in the software itself. We can also recommend security measures to further protect your hard drive, allowing you full confidence that your data is safe and secure.

User restrictions

Churches rightly place a high value on confidentiality of the information in their charge. Omega Church allows you to set up as many password-protected user accounts as you like and customise the areas of the programme to which each has access. For example, a "FWO" account could be set up for those volunteers entering free will offerings each week, whilst disallowing access to sensitive membership and pastoral data, and a "Pastoral" account for staff undertaking and recording pastoral visits, without access to other parts of the system.
